Aims:
  • The aim of this module is to equip all staff in Devon Partnership Trust to be able to prevent and control the spread of infection in the workplace.

  • By the end of the module learners will be able to: Describe the micro-organisms that can cause infection Describe how infections are spread Describe who is vulnerable to infection Describe how to prevent the spread of infections Describe 'Standard Precautions' Describe how and when to decontaminate hands Describe why it is important to keep good standards of cleaning Describe how to dispose of waste appropriately Describe how to deal with spillages Describe how to deal with laundry appropriately Describe what to do in the event of an innoculation injury
