Modules provided by the NHS Core Learning Unit
The NHS Core Learning Unit has been established by the NHS and develops e-learning materials for the NHS.
It is recommended that all staff undertake only the following modules through the NHS Core Learning Unit:
- MH Manual Handling
- FSA Fire Safety Awareness
- HAS Health & Safety Awareness
- Safeguarding Children (CPA Child Protection Awareness in Health)
In addition it is recommended that staff working in inpatient or residential areas undertake the following module through the NHS Core Learning Unit:
- FNH Food, Nutrition and Hydration in Health and Social Care
All the units are free at point of use. However, after completing some of the courses you have the opportunity to apply for a nationally recognised certificate, and this does incur a cost. Unless you would like to pay for the certificates yourself...talk to your manager before applying for certificates. You do not need to have a certificate to prove you have completed the course. The Trust will receive regular reports from the organisation providing the E-Learning module and will relay this information to your manager.
Accounts for all staff employed by Devon Partnership NHS Trust were created for all staff employed before January 2009.
Your account will have been set up with your ASSIGNMENT NUMBER as your USERNAME and your DOB (ddmmyy) as your password.

Accounts for NEW Staff or staff Employed by Partnership OrganisationsIf you have been employed by Devon Partnership NHS Trust since 01/01/2009
Follow the link to the NHS Core Learning Unit . Then click on the 'Register' button to register yourself as a user and follow the online instructions.
- REMEMBER to register using your ASSIGNMENT NUMBER as your user name if you are a new DPT member of staff.
- REMEMBER to register using your EMAIL ADDRESS as your user name if you are employed by a partnership organisation.
When you have completed your registration with the NHS Core Learning Unit you will receive an email confirming your registration is successful.
Mental Health ActCSIP have provided access to a free e-learning module about the MHA 1083, and the 2007 amendments.
Who is this e-learning module (e-learning workbook) for?
The e-learning module (e-learning workbook) is for all clinical staff ( professionally qualified and support staff). The main aim of the resource is to support changes in mental health legislation in England by helping to prepare mental health staff to understand and work safely and effectively within the MHA.
CSIP do not provide reports so you will need to print off the free certificate once you complete the module, and send a copy of it to Workforce planning and Development admin.
