Supervision is a tool to enable workers to both deliver their objectives and do their job effectively.
To understand what is expected of them and to be motivated and inspired to achieve results.
By creating a productive relationship the tool ensures that workers have the resources both physically and emotionally to function productively.
Workers have a need to feel supported both physically and emotionally.
They need to know what they need to do and how well to do it.
They need to develop and feel a sense of achievement in their work.
Supervision meets these needs in formal and in informal meetings.
Supervision is contracted for. Workers and supervisors use the contract to ensure clarity and understanding in what supervision is, why it is happening, what happens in sessions and the preparation needed by both parties.
In a supervision session topics and issues may have their own contract for that piece of work.
