The Devon Learning Network is a resource shared by the health and social care communities of North and East Devon. It aims to support education initiatives by providing links to a range of resources, a place for people to meet 'electronically', a source of e-Learning material, opportunities to share good practice and a set of forums for discussion on a range of topics.

Anyone who works within the health and social care communities is invited to register as a member of the Devon Learning Network (a simple and quick process). Registered members (currently 319 in total) have access to all the facilities on the site.

What are the benefits of membership?

Membership entitles you to use a range of extra features on this site such as:

Search for a Mentor / Information Resource / Shadow

Each member has the ability to submit additional background information regarding any previous mentoring experience or skills/qualifications that they would like to offer other members. You can choose to appear on the site as a 'Mentor' if you are able to offer long term arrangements or a 'Resource' if you can offer quick advice through email or brief 'Live Meetings' using this sites Live Meeting Rooms.

The full lists of Mentors and Resources can be browsed at your leisure as well as searched upon if you are seeking advice on a particular area and we also provide you with a 'Members Cart / Invites List' to store the information as you find it.

Open Publishing

Create your own webpages or even multi-page articles without having to know anything about webdesign. Your pages are also open to change by other registered members and are therefore in a virtual constant state of 'work in progress'.

If you don't fancy creating a page of your own, you can leave constructive comments on other members pages.

e-Learning Courses

We aim to provide a mixture of tutor led and self access e-learning courses. Check back often since we be adding courses as often as we can.

Courses will cover a variety different subjects and are available for registered members of the site.

Live Meeting Rooms

The Live Meeting Rooms provide an area for holding on-line conferences. Members have access to a number public open meeting rooms, plus the ability to arrange a private meeting of their own and select which other users they would like to invite.

Pre-arranged meetings are controlled via your own 'pending meetings' control panel enabling you to accept or decline meeting invitations at any time. Members have the choice to make themselves available for meeting invitations via their profile information screens.

Articles, Papers & Presentations

Members have access to a valuable source of information in the shape of a document database.

Users are encouraged to submit documents of their own which may be in the shape of Research Findings, Academic Papers or even Presentations which have been previously used for learning purposes.

Previously submitted documents can be browsed at your leisure or specific information can be found by using a search facility.
